it’s Blog Action Day and this year’s topic is poverty.
Canada just had its federal election and the US will have theirs in about 2 weeks. It really doesn’t matter who wins because its the corporation$ who really rule the world. The rich can only stay rich (and powerful) by keeping others down. The poor stay poor. The rich get richer.
Last year, the topic for Blog Action Day was the environment. Now it’s all the rage with the corporations because they can now make money from it. They can’t make money from the poor. The poor can’t help any politician.
This world wide economic bail out only helps the rich who caused it in the first place. The poor suffer regardless. They have no say.
Sounds like we need a major shift in collective consciousness if we really, truly want to help end poverty. Don’t rely on the governments and certainly don’t rely on the corporations.
for my part, i turn to sites like freerice, kiva, and goodsearch, as ways to help alleviate poverty online.
saw this post via the front page of blog action day. it’s great that you’re participating. :)
You’re right that the bailout will only help the big finance companies. But you can’t lump all corporations together. After all, companies like Wal-Mart, Costco, BJ’s, and others have done more to lift people out of poverty than any government or charitable group in history.
Wal-Mart, too?? I’m shocked.
