Google Chrome was “accidentally” (yeah right) launched this morning and along with it was a comic book by Scott McCloud explaining its features and such. My twitter list was all a buzz with hating the comic book. Quite a few also lamented it was 36 pages.

Why not?

I think the comic wasn’t such a bad idea. Although a company like Google doesn’t need any help with publicity when it comes to its products, I’m thinking offering a comic book gave Chrome some added differentiation/public-intrerest/PR-stunt outside the shadow of Firefox, Safari, Flock and Opera. Oh yeah, IE, too, I guess.

Plus, who wants to read yet another screen full of text? The comic lets you scan.

I for one would love to have a copy of the Google Chrome comic book.
