It’s only a myth that wolves howl at the moon. But they do have a surprisingly rich howling vocabulary. I stumbled on this while researching the topic for a children’s book idea and thought it would also make a great educational piece for kids.

I’ve been avid backyard astronomer since I was a kid and to this day I still enjoy showing people the wonders of the night sky. This is an illustrated version of my basics to stargazing. I used a shades of blue to denote dark skies. With the exception of the lunar eclipse and red flashlight, of course.

Molise is a region in Italy that doesn’t get too many tourists. Filled with Roman and Samnite ruins, rolling hills, mountains, lush forests, and a long agricultural history, it provides a feast both for the stomach and the eyes! And I’m not just saying this because my ancestry comes from there. On my map, you’ll find a handful of major and off-the-beaten-path destinations I’d recommend to all first-timers, along with icons of local dishes and animals that tell the story of the region’s rich culture.
