I always love fresh, new ideas that are a little bit “out there” but you know they would totally be successful once tried out. One such idea comes from Mathew Hoy, web designer, games podcaster and comic nut.

Mathew shares his idea in his Ignite London presentation about helping kids with comics. Or more precisely, rewarding innovation and individuality in students instead of drilling the idea of needing passing grades in order to be productive members of society. We need to invent new ways to prevent kids from falling behind.

Give them real world skills in writing, drawing and distributing comic books. And sharing those comic books with kids in other schools.

Mathew also asks a very good question during his Ingite speech. To paraphrase, “Why are the movies coming out right now just rehashes of old tv shows? We need new voices.”
